Dwayne W. Smith

Dwayne W. Smith

Managing Partner
Fort Worth, Texas

Dwayne is the firm’s managing partner. He regularly guides his clients through the most difficult time in their lives, whether that involves a divorce, the possibility of losing custody of their children, or other family-related issues. His experience in family-law cases has taught him that preparing every case as if it's going to trial helps make the opposing party and attorney more reasonable in settlement negotiations.

A family lawyer's role is to guide clients through their case, set reasonable expectations along the way, and fight within the bounds of the law to get a client the result he or she desires. Dwayne has represented clients that have a net worth ranging from less than zero to more than a billion dollars, and everywhere in between. No case is too small, too large, or too complex. Every client, regardless of his or her net worth, business acumen, income, or station in life receives the same caring attention to detail.

Dwayne received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas, and he is a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law. He was a staff editor on The Review of Litigation and graduated as a member of the Order of Barristers. After law school, and while practicing with a large law firm in Austin, Dwayne served as an adjunct faculty member in the advocacy program at The University of Texas School of Law. He regularly is asked to write and make presentations to lawyers’ associations on family-law issues. He is a proud Eagle Scout.

Dwayne and his wife Mary have three young children. When not practicing law or spending time with his family, Dwayne supports his community by serving on the board of directors of CASA of Tarrant County (he also is president-elect), the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and various committees of the State Bar of Texas.
